Natalie Prass

#ad
Spacebomb Records #ad - She's a joy for any listener to discover-a lover and a fighter and old-soul trader in genuine energy, aiming straight for the heart. The two worked together, selecting nine tracks to run through Spacebomb's creative machine. Prass turns a sly eye to the pageantry of emotion, spinning golden threads of lyric and melody, unapologetically romantic, each inflection and melisma planned and considered, the drama of love and the mysteries of everyday life with a disarming mixture of sincerity and cosmic insolence, each word tailored for meaning and effect-the pop gesture as art form.

With hard work and the alchemy of circumstance, they crafted an unassuming masterpiece-a real stunner that sounds both thoroughly out-of-time and impossibly fresh. Natalie prass is the kind of artist spacebomb was created for-a songwriter's songwriter and performer's performer blessed with a golden voice and universal appeal-a singer who understands the vision and brings an undeniable talent to the process.

Natalie Prass #ad - White go back to playing in rock bands in their high school days. The match made sense musically and her ties to Matthew E. When the time came to record a full length, Prass returned to Virginia to work with Spacebomb Records, a label able to realize big visions and lush productions within the rustic charm of it's attic studio.

She delivers it all with carefree charm and nearly divine intuition. Prass is a powerful, beguiling performer and cunning pop composer-one for the moment and one for the ages. Shrink-wrapped.

Tell Me How You Really Feel

#ad
Mom+Pop #ad - Shrink-wrapped. The grammy and brit nominated Courtney Barnett returns with her second album - Tell Me How You Really Feel. It follows her critically acclaimed 2015 debut album sometimes I Sit And Think And Sometimes I Just Sit, 'Lotta Sea Lice', and a recent top 10 collaborative record, with Kurt Vile. Jenny lewis- On The Line.

. As the world becomes more familiar with Courtney Barnett these songs feel comforting and emphatic yet that raw energy and the ability to make the listener think still remain. One of the most distinctive voices in music, courtney is known for mixing witty observations with unflinching self-assessment - fast forward to now and although all of the cleaver turns of phrase and an eye for story telling are still there; this new collection of songs see a more serious and outwardly tone capturing the current social landscape yet still retaining moments of intimacy and warmth.

7

#ad
Sub Pop Records #ad - There are songs with layers and production that we could never recreate live, and that is exciting to us. The twisted double edge of glamour, with its perils and perfect moments, was an endless source. 7 didn’t have a producer in the traditional sense. Courtney barnett- Tell Me How You Really Feel. James barone, who became our live drummer in 2016, played on the entire record.

For 7, we built a "home" studio, and began all of the songs there. The energy, lyrics and moods of much of this record grew from ruminations on the roles, pressures and conditions that our society places on women, past and present. At its release, we will have been a band for over 13 years. We have now written and released a total of 77 songs together.

Jenny lewis- On The Line. Throughout the process of recording 7, our goal was rebirth and rejuvenation. In a more general sense, we are interested by the human mind's and nature’s tendency to create forces equal and opposite to those present. While the title is simply a number that represents our seventh record, the number 7 does represent some interesting connections in numerology.

7 #ad - We also worked with sonic boom peter kember, who became a great force on this record by shedding conventions and helping to keep the songs alive, fresh and protected from the destructive forces of recording-studio over-production/over-perfection. 1 and 7 have always shared a common look, so 7 feels like the perfect step in the sequence to act as a restart or “semi-first.

Be The Cowboy

#ad
DEAD OCEANS #ad - Shrink-wrapped. The breakout success of 2016’s puberty 2 saw Mitski hailed as the new vanguard of indie rock, the one to save the genre from the white dudes who’ve historically dominated it. Courtney barnett- Tell Me How You Really Feel. Jenny lewis- On The Line. But the often overlooked aspect of being a rising star is the sheer amount of work that goes into it.

I had been on the road for a long time, which is so isolating, “a lot of this record was me not having any feelings, being completely spent, ” Mitski explains, and had to run my own business at the same time, but then trying to rally myself and wake up and get back to Mitski. Rather than avoiding this dilemma, she addresses directly the power that comes from appearing impenetrable and loneliness that follows.

Be The Cowboy #ad - I was feeling really nihilistic and trying to make pop songs. We want our artists to be strong but we also expect them to be vulnerable. With a lot of the romantic infatuations i’ve had, “when i look back, ” she says, I wonder, Did I want them or did I want to be them? Did I love them or did I want to absorb whatever power they had? I decided I could just be my own cowboy gure that I so desire.

In be the cowboy, mitski delves into the loneliness of being a symbol and the loneliness of being someone, and how it can feel so much like being no one. Shrink-wrapped. Shrink-wrapped.

Lush

#ad
Matador Records #ad - Is there any better feeling than coming clean?” sings the eighteen-year-old guitarist and songwriter halfway through the sprawling anthem that is “Pristine, ” the album’s first single. You can’t help but agree with her. Shrink-wrapped. Recorded with producer jake aron and engineer Johnny Schenke, Lush sounds cinematic, with contributions from touring bandmates drummer Ray Brown and bassist Alex Bass as well, yet still perfectly homemade.

Lindsey jordan is on the brink of something huge, and she’s only just graduated high school. Shrink-wrapped. In the time that’s elapsed since habit, jordan has graduated high school, toured the country, her 2016 EP, opened for the likes of Girlpool and Waxahatchee as well as selling out her own headline shows, and participated in a round-table discussion for The New York Times about women in punk -- giving her time to reflect and refine her songwriting process by using tempered pacings and alternate tunings to create a jawdropping debut both thoughtful and cathartic.

Lush #ad - Jenny lewis- On The Line. It’s a hook that immediately sticks in your head—and a question she seems to be grappling with throughout the record’s 10-songs of crystalline guitar pop. Her voice rises and falls with electricity throughout Lush, her debut album as Snail Mail, spinning with bold excitement and new beginnings at every turn.
